- 1 cup dried navy or great northern beans (soaked overnight)

- 2 bay leaves
Instructions
- Soak the beans overnight in cold water; drain before using.
- In a large pot over medium heat, add a splash of olive oil and sauté onions, carrots, celery, and garlic until softened (about 5 minutes).
- Stir in the ham and soaked beans. Cover with chicken broth by about an inch and add bay leaves.
