- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 2 cups pitted canned or fresh cherries (chopped)
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add melted butter, salt, and half the flour; stir until combined. Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled.
- Punch down dough; roll out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Spread softened butter over the surface.
- Sprinkle cinnamon evenly and add chopped cherries. Roll tightly from one end to create a log.
- Cut into equal pieces (about 2 inches thick) and place in a greased baking dish. Let rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
