Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast: In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk with a tablespoon of granulated sugar; let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Create the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, eggs, melted butter, and salt. Add foamy yeast mixture; mix until combined.
  3. Knead the dough: On a floured surface, knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let it rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll it out: Punch down the dough and roll into a rectangle about half an inch thick.
  6. Fill it up: Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly.
  7. Roll & cut: Roll up tightly from one side; slice into equal pieces (about two inches each).
  8. Bake & frost: Place rolls on greased baking sheets; allow to rise again while preheating oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Mix frosting ingredients while cooling; spread on warm rolls.
