Ingredients

  • 1 cup glutinous rice
  • 1 cup full-fat coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 ripe mangoes, sliced
  • Toasted sesame seeds or mung beans for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak in water for at least 4 hours.
  2. Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a bamboo steamer lined with cheesecloth for about 30 minutes until tender.
  3. In a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt over low heat until dissolved (do not boil).
  4. Pour half of the coconut sauce over the cooked rice and gently mix to coat.
  5. Serve the sticky rice topped with sliced mangoes and drizzle the remaining coconut sauce on top. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds or mung beans.
