  • 1 lb Ground beef a rich, hearty base
  • 1 Onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 Green bell pepper diced
  • 14.5 oz Diced tomatoes canned or fresh
  • 2 tbsp Chili powder the star spice
  • 1 tsp Cumin adds earthy warmth
Beans (optional)
  • 1 can Kidney beans or black beans
Seasoning
  • to taste Salt essential for balancing flavors
  • to taste Pepper essential for balancing flavors
  • 1 dash Hot sauce for those who like it spicy

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients, including ground beef, beans, tomatoes, and spices.
  2. In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef until it’s no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add diced onions and bell peppers to the pot and sauté for another 3-4 minutes until they soften.
  4. Stir in garlic, chili powder, cumin, and salt. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the spices release their aroma.
  5. Pour in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and drained beans of your choice. Stir everything together.
  6. Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low, allowing your chili to simmer for 30-40 minutes.
  7. After simmering, taste your chili and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  8. Ladle the hot chili into bowls and enjoy with your favorite toppings.
