Ingredients
  

Chicken
  • 1 whole whole chicken about 4-5 pounds
Beer
  • 1 can lager beer or your choice of beer
Spices
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional for heat

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F to 400°F).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken, including under the skin for more flavor.
Cooking
  1. Open the can of beer and drink or pour out about half of it.
  2. Insert the beer can into the cavity of the chicken, ensuring it stands upright.
  3. Place the chicken on the grill, close the lid, and cook for about 1.5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  4. Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes before carefully removing the beer can.
  5. Carve and serve the chicken warm.
