Ingredients
  

Dumpling Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk whole or 2%
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
Blackberry Filling
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar adjust based on sweetness preference
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
Sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water to create a slurry

Method
 

Prepare the Filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Gently toss to coat and set aside.
Make the Dumpling Dough
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.
Cook the Dumplings
  1. In a saucepan, bring water and sugar to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer.
  2. Drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough into the simmering water. Cook for about 10-12 minutes until they are puffed and cooked through.
Prepare the Sauce
  1. In a separate saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil, then add the cornstarch slurry. Stir until thickened.
Serve
  1. Serve the dumplings warm, topped with the blackberry filling and sauce.

Notes
