Ingredients
  

Salmon Fillets
  • 4 fillets salmon skin-on or skinless
Blackening Spice Mix
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Cooking Oil
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
Lemon
  • 1 whole lemon for serving

Method
 

Prepare the Blackening Spice
  1. In a small bowl, mix together paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, black pepper, and salt.
Season the Salmon
  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Rub the blackening spice mix generously over both sides of each fillet.
Cook the Salmon
  1. Heat olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the salmon fillets, skin-side down, and cook for about 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy.
  2. Carefully flip the fillets and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
Serve
  1. Remove the salmon from the skillet and let rest for a minute. Serve with lemon wedges.

Notes
