Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef preferably lean
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup finely diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup bourbon BBQ sauce
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked crisp and chopped
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 hoagie or sub rolls
  • fresh parsley for garnish optional

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until combined.
  3. Roll mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until cooked through.
  5. While meatballs cook, warm the BBQ sauce in a skillet over low heat.
  6. Transfer cooked meatballs to the skillet and toss to coat in sauce.
  7. Place 4–5 meatballs into each sub roll. Top with shredded cheddar and chopped bacon.
  8. Arrange subs on a baking sheet and broil for 2–3 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
