Ingredients
  

Potatoes
  • 4 medium Russet potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
Cheese Sauce
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Topping
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped for garnish

Method
 

Prepare the Potatoes
  1. Preheat the oven to 375?F (190?C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Layer the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
Make the Cheese Sauce
  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  3. Gradually add the milk, whisking continuously until thickened.
  4. Stir in 2 cups of cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Pour the cheese sauce over the layered potatoes.
  2. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  3. Remove the foil, sprinkle with remaining cheese, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  4. Let cool for a few minutes before serving, garnished with parsley.
