Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk or almond milk for dairy-free
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
For the Filling
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup raisins soaked in warm water for extra plumpness

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather ingredients: Start by collecting all your ingredients, including flour, cinnamon, sugar, yeast, milk, eggs, butter, and raisins.
  2. Mix the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly. Then add eggs and melted butter.
  3. Knead the dough: Gradually incorporate flour and salt into the mixture. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a clean cloth. Let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Add cinnamon and raisins: Punch down the risen dough gently to release air. Roll it out into a rectangle and sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar and raisins before rolling it up tightly.
  6. Second rise: Shape the rolled dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover again and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes until puffy.
  7. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350?F (175?C). Bake the loaf for 30-35 minutes until golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  8. Cool: Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
