Apple Ingredients
  • 4-5 medium Granny Smith apples Peeled and sliced
  • 2 cups Funnel cake batter Make according to recipe instructions
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp Ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 2 inches Oil For frying

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Mix sugars and cinnamon together in a small bowl. Set aside.
  2. Make funnel cake batter according to recipe instructions.
  3. Add oil to a deep fryer or pan, about 2 inches high, and heat to 375 degrees.
  4. Peel and slice apples into sticks.
  5. Dip apple sticks into funnel cake batter and shake off excess.
  6. Drop into heated oil and fry for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Remove apple fries and let sit on a paper towel to soak up excess oil.
  8. Coat in sugar mixture and top with powdered sugar if desired.
  9. Serve warm with caramel dip and/or whipped cream.
