Ingredients

For the Cabbage
  • 1 head Green cabbage the star of the dish that becomes wonderfully tender and flavorful.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil adds richness and helps to caramelize the cabbage.
  • 3 cloves Garlic enhances the savory notes; feel free to use fresh or pre-minced.
  • 1 cup Vegetable broth brings depth to the dish; chicken broth can be used as a substitute.
For Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Salt essential for balancing flavors; adjust based on your preference.
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper adds a subtle kick; freshly ground enhances the taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme lends an earthy aroma; dried thyme works well if fresh isn?t available.

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by removing the outer leaves of your cabbage and slicing it into wedges. Each wedge should be about 2 inches thick for even cooking.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, melt a generous tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add finely chopped onions and saut? until they turn soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Gently place the cabbage wedges into the skillet with the onions. Season with salt and pepper, then cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they begin to caramelize and soften.
  3. Carefully pour in vegetable or chicken broth to cover the bottom of the skillet. This will help steam the cabbage while adding depth to its flavor.
  4. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let everything simmer for 25-30 minutes. The cabbage should become tender and melt-in-your-mouth delicious!
  5. For an extra touch of comfort, stir in a splash of heavy cream during the last few minutes of cooking, allowing it to blend beautifully with the cabbage.
