Preparation
- Begin by removing the outer leaves of your cabbage and slicing it into wedges. Each wedge should be about 2 inches thick for even cooking.
Cooking
- In a large skillet, melt a generous tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add finely chopped onions and saut? until they turn soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Gently place the cabbage wedges into the skillet with the onions. Season with salt and pepper, then cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they begin to caramelize and soften.
- Carefully pour in vegetable or chicken broth to cover the bottom of the skillet. This will help steam the cabbage while adding depth to its flavor.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let everything simmer for 25-30 minutes. The cabbage should become tender and melt-in-your-mouth delicious!
- For an extra touch of comfort, stir in a splash of heavy cream during the last few minutes of cooking, allowing it to blend beautifully with the cabbage.
