Comforting Melting Cabbage

Ingredients
  

Cabbage
  • 1 head green cabbage cut into wedges
Butter
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter divided
Onion
  • 1 medium yellow onion sliced
Garlic
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
Vegetable Broth
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon thyme dried

Method
 

Prepare the Cabbage
  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the cabbage wedges and cook for 5-7 minutes until slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
Saut? the Onion and Garlic
  1. In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and saut? until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Combine and Simmer
  1. Add the cabbage wedges to the skillet with the onion and garlic. Pour in the vegetable broth and season with salt, pepper, and thyme. Bring to a simmer.
Cook Until Tender
  1. Cover and cook on low heat for 30-35 minutes, until the cabbage is meltingly tender. Stir occasionally and add more broth if needed.
Finish and Serve
  1. Remove from heat and stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter until melted. Serve warm.
