Ingredients
  

Cabbage and Beef
  • 1 head cabbage chopped
  • 1 lb ground beef browned
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
Cream Sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese plus more for topping
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 1 tsp black pepper to taste
Topping
  • 1 cup bread crumbs for topping
  • 2 tbsp butter melted

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350?F (175?C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic until cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped cabbage with the beef mixture.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour the cream sauce over the cabbage and beef mixture and stir until well combined.
Baking
  1. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the bread crumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the casserole.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
  4. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking. Just add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
