  • 2 medium yellow onions, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • ? cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Worcestershire sauce optional, for richer flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat the butter or oil in a large saut? pan on medium heat and add the onions.
  2. Stir the onions for 2 minutes, then reduce the heat to low.
  3. Continue stirring the onions every 2 to 3 minutes, allowing them to caramelize. If they start to stick, add water to deglaze the pan.
  4. Cook for approximately 45 minutes or until onions are caramelized to your liking.
  5. Add minced garlic and saut? for an additional minute.
  6. Transfer the caramelized onions to a bowl and let cool; then chop them into smaller pieces.
  7. In a mixing bowl, combine the caramelized onions with sour cream, mayonnaise, chives, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  8. Stir everything together until creamy and garnish with additional herbs.
