Preparation Steps
- Arrange cut fruits, pretzels, cookies, marshmallows, cake, or other dipping ingredients on a platter.
- Place the squares of chocolate in a small saucepan. Turn the heat on low and stir occasionally until the chocolate is completely melted.
- Turn the heat up to medium and add the whipping cream, sugar, butter, and salt. Heat and stir constantly until the butter melts and the mixture thickens slightly (about 5 minutes).
- Stir in the liqueur (if using) and allow the chocolate mixture to simmer for around 5 minutes, to cook off the alcohol (if preferred).
- Transfer to a warmed ceramic bowl or fondue pot and keep warm to serve.

Notes
For optimal texture and flavor development, let the finished chocolate fondue rest before serving. Customize by using dark or white chocolate and different flavored liqueurs to make it your own.
