Ingredients

  • 4 units hot dog buns
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 0.25 cup avocado oil
  • 4 units hot dogs
  • 2 units tomatoes quartered
  • 2 units jalape?os seeded and sliced
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • grated cheese optional

Equipment

  • Pan

Method

  1. Butter each hot dog bun on all sides and set aside.
  2. Heat a pan on medium-high heat.
  3. Add in the avocado oil and let it get hot. Make a shallow slit in the middle of each hot dog with a knife.
  4. Once the oil shimmers, add the quartered tomatoes, hot dogs, sliced and seeded jalape?os, and sliced onions.
  5. Cook the veggies and hot dogs, stirring, until the veggies are caramelized. If the pan starts to burn, add a splash of water to deglaze it.
  6. When the veggies and hot dogs are golden in color, take them out of the pan and set aside.
  7. Add the buttered buns to the pan and toast them on each side.
  8. Add a hot dog to each bun along with the caramelized veggies. Top with cheese, if using, and enjoy!
