Method
- Combine 1 1/2 cups flour with yeast; stir together with a spoon until well combined.
- Add sugar and salt; mix well.
- Add hot water and stir to combine, then add the melted butter and the egg; mix completely until the butter and egg are no longer visible.
- Add the remaining 2 cups of flour and mix until incorporated; the dough will be sticky. Add a little more flour as needed and incorporate it into the dough with your hands for about 1 minute until smooth and not sticky.
- Shape the rolls as desired; for crescent rolls, roll the dough into a large circle (1/8-1/4 inch thick), cut into triangles, and roll from the larger end.
- Place on a lightly sprayed cookie sheet, tucking the tip of the triangle under the roll. Let rise for 10-15 minutes.
- Bake at 425?F for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden brown on top.
- Brush with melted butter after baking.
