Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 3 cups All-purpose flour a versatile base that provides structure and chewiness.
  • 1.5 cups Warm water helps activate the yeast for that perfect rise.
  • 2 teaspoons Active dry yeast gives your ciabatta its airy texture; make sure it’s fresh!
  • 1 teaspoon Salt enhances flavor and strengthens the dough's gluten structure.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil adds richness and a hint of Mediterranean flavor to your bread.
Optional Topping
  • 1 tablespoon Cornmeal sprinkle on your baking surface for a rustic touch and to prevent sticking.
  • Herbs (like rosemary) infuse your easy ciabatta bread with aromatic flavors for an elevated experience.

Method

Making the Dough
  1. Mix the ingredients in a large bowl, combining flour, water, yeast, and salt until a shaggy dough forms. This should take about 3-5 minutes for a well-blended mixture.
  2. Knead the dough gently on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic, with a slightly tacky feel.
  3. Rise the dough in a warm spot, covered with a damp cloth, for 1-2 hours until it doubles in size and looks bubbly on the surface.
  4. Shape the dough carefully by turning it onto a floured surface. Stretch and fold it into a rectangle without deflating too much.
  5. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) while allowing the shaped dough to rest for another 30 minutes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake the ciabatta bread for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown and crusty on top. It should sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
