Ingredients
  

Cake
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Buttercream Frosting
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • food coloring various colors for decoration

Method
 

Prepare the Cake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350?F (175?C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting.
Decorate the Cake
  1. Prepare the buttercream frosting by beating the softened butter until creamy.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar and heavy cream, mixing until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Divide the frosting into separate bowls and tint with food coloring as desired.
  4. Use a piping bag to create embroidery designs on the cooled cake.
  5. Let the decorated cake set before serving.
