Ingredients
  

Sauce Ingredients
  • 1 cup soy sauce low sodium preferred
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch optional for thickening
  • 2 tablespoons water for cornstarch slurry

Method
 

Prepare the Sauce
  1. In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, water, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. If using cornstarch, mix it with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry.
  4. Once the sauce is simmering, add the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool before using.
