Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
Chicken
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded Use rotisserie chicken for convenience.
Sauce
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk Whole milk recommended.
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded Use sharp cheddar for more flavor.
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp black pepper Adjust to taste.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
Topping
  • 1 cup bread crumbs Panko works well.
  • 2 tbsp parmesan cheese, grated

Method
 

Cook Pasta
  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Prepare Sauce
  1. In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  2. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  3. Add the cheddar cheese, honey, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
Combine Ingredients
  1. Add the cooked macaroni and shredded chicken to the cheese sauce. Stir until well combined.
Bake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350?F (175?C). Transfer the mac and cheese mixture to a baking dish.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the bread crumbs and parmesan cheese. Sprinkle over the mac and cheese.
  3. Bake for 20 minutes or until the top is golden and crispy.
