Ingredients
  

Pudding Base
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup milk whole or 2%
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Sauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Method
 

Prepare the Pudding
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until combined.
Create the Sauce
  1. Pour the pudding mixture into the greased baking dish.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and cocoa powder. Sprinkle evenly over the pudding mixture.
  3. Carefully pour hot water over the top of the pudding mixture. Do not stir.
Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the top is set.
  2. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. The sauce will be underneath the pudding.
