Preparing the Donuts
- Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well and set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: egg, milk, melted butter, and pure vanilla extract until well blended.
- Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir until a soft dough forms.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick.
- Use a donut cutter to cut out donuts and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
- Bake for about 10 minutes or until the donuts are lightly golden brown.
Making the Glaze
- While the donuts cool, prepare the vanilla glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Blend until smooth.
- Adjust thickness by adding more milk or sugar as needed to achieve a pourable consistency.
- Once the donuts are cooled for about 20 minutes, dip the tops in the glaze and let excess drip off.
- Set glazed donuts on a wire rack to allow the glaze to firm up for about 10 minutes.
- Feel free to get creative with toppings while the glaze is still sticky!
