Ingredients
  

For the Meat Mixture
  • 1 lb Ground beef can substitute turkey or lentils
  • 1 medium Onion can use shallots
  • 1 medium Bell pepper can add diced jalape?os
  • 2 cloves Garlic fresh is best
For the Sauce
  • 1 cup Ketchup opt for low-sugar varieties
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce soy sauce can be an alternative
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar honey or maple syrup can substitute
  • 1 tbsp Mustard yellow mustard is traditional
For Serving
  • 4 pieces Hamburger buns whole grain or gluten-free buns work well
  • 1 cup Pickles dill or bread-and-butter pickles

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. Saut? the onions and bell peppers in a large skillet over medium heat for 5 minutes, or until they become soft and fragrant.
  2. Brown the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula until fully cooked and no longer pink, about 7-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Combine the cooked veggies with the browned beef, stirring in your favorite sloppy joe sauce. Let it simmer on low for 10 minutes.
  4. Serve the mixture on toasted hamburger buns, toasting them lightly under the broiler for about 2-3 minutes.
