Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cherry blossom extract or floral essence
Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon cherry blossom extract

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. Preheat the oven to 350?F (175?C). In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and cherry blossom extract.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
Shape and Bake
  1. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
  2. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
Prepare the Glaze
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and cherry blossom extract until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookies and let set before serving.
