  • 1 lb Ground lamb or beef provides a rich and savory flavor

  • 1 cup Beef or vegetable broth low-sodium if preferred
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce adds complexity
  • 1 tsp Fresh thyme elevates flavors
  • 1 tsp Fresh rosemary elevates flavors
For the Mashed Potatoes
  • 2 lb Russet potatoes perfect for mashing
  • 4 tbsp Butter unsalted for more control over flavor
  • 1/2 cup Milk or cream adjust for desired creaminess
  • to taste Salt and pepper essential seasonings

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400?F (200?C).
  2. Saut? the onions and garlic in a large skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes, until softened.
  3. Brown the ground beef (or lamb) in the same skillet for approximately 8-10 minutes, stirring until fully cooked.
  4. Add diced carrots and peas, cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings (salt, pepper, thyme) and simmer on low for about 10 minutes.
  6. Boil peeled potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, roughly 15-20 minutes.
  7. Mash the cooked potatoes with butter and milk until smooth and fluffy.
  8. Layer half of the meat mixture into a baking dish, then spread half of the mashed potatoes on top.
