Method
Prepare the Chicken
- Rinse the chicken pieces under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
- Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and paprika. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Make the Batter
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, buttermilk, egg, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper until smooth.
Heat the Oil
- In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350?F (175?C).
Fry the Chicken
- Dip each piece of chicken into the wet batter, allowing excess to drip off.
- Carefully place the battered chicken into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
- Fry for about 12-15 minutes, or until the chicken is golden brown and reaches an internal temperature of 165?F (75?C).
- Remove the chicken from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serve
- Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your crispy wet batter fried chicken!
