Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter, stirring continuously until fully melted. Remove from heat.
- Mix in granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined; let cool slightly before adding eggs.
- Whisk in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, combine cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix into wet ingredients until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean with moist crumbs attached.
- Immediately sprinkle crushed candy canes on top while warm; allow to cool before cutting into squares.
